City Of Pgh Xmas Tree Composting

January 3, 2014- January 17, 2014

In 2013, there is no curbside pickup of trees for composting. Trees left curbside will go to landfill. City residents may take trees to one of the City’s Drop-Off Locations to have it composted.

Hours are Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Trees must have all ornaments, lights and stands removed. Absolutely no trees in plastic bags or netting will be accepted.

  • Thursday, Jan. 9, at Greater Allen AME Church, 3600 California Ave.

Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, a local housing nonprofit that delivers no-cost home repairs to qualifying low-income homeowners, is partnering with OPDC to repair homes in Oakland.

OAKLAND GREEN TEAM MEETING 7/18 6pm

The Oakland Green Team seeks to “put the oak back in Oakland,” improving trail connections and creating attractive open spaces. The team will identify, guide and implement greening activities throughout Oakland.

IMG_20130409_172520The Oakland 2025 Master Plan identifies greening and beautification as vital areas for creating a sustainable and enjoyable community. The Oakland Green Team is a direct response to this vision for the future, and will strive to achieve this vision by creating a forum for resident ideas and actions.

  • The Green Team is participating in the redesign of the Louisa Street steps and in creating three new murals on Semple Street. We’ll be posting lots of updates on OPDC’s Facebook and Twitter page as the projects moves forward.

Mission: Oakwatch seeks to improve the quality of life for residents, employees and visitors by enforcing codes on negligent property owners, housing violations, parking violations, disruptive behavior, excessive noise and underage drinking in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

Oakwatch formed in 2011 as an implementation item of TheOakland 2025 Master Plan. Oakwatch meets the third Wednesday of every month and welcomes all to attend. If you miss a meeting, check this page regularly for posted minutes, announcements and other relevant materials.
