Urban Design Workshop – Thu 6/27/19 At Soldiers & Sailors

The Pittsburgh Department of City Planning is hosting a workshop on Thursday, June 27 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum at 4141 Fifth Ave, that will focus on the design of buildings and the public realm on Fifth and Forbes Avenues.

The meeting will be an open house format where you can speak with planners and developers. There will be two identical sessions: 10 am-1 pm and 5 pm-8 pm. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

What can you expect? Discussions on Urban Design, New Regulations, Current Projects, Oakland Plan.

“Better Recycling, Better Burgh” Workshops To Improve Recycling

'Better Recycling, Better Burgh' Workshops Work to Improve Recycling Throughout the City 
 
The Office of Mayor William Peduto, Bureau of Environmental Services,  Division of Sustainability & Resilience, and the Department of Environmental Protection to host two separate informational workshops on  June 5 and June 12 on the importance of recycling and waste reduction. 
 
Four informational workshops, demonstrating the importance of recycling and how to improve recycling and reduce waste in the City. Residential sessions are designed for people in single-family dwellings and small apartments; commercial sessions are specifically for businesses and multi-unit apartments. Topics in the workshops will include:

  • Changes in recycling guidelines
  • New regulations
  • Tips to reduce waste
  • Hard-to-recycle materials
  • Expert panel discussion

Dept Of Parks & Rec Will Have 4 Warming Ctrs Wed 1/30 ToThu 1/31

The Department of Parks and Recreation Will Keep 4 Healthy Active Living Centers Listed Below Open as Warming Centers 4PM-9PM Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday January 31st:

During Warming Center Operations from 4 pm to 9 pm, there are no age restrictions for attending these Centers.  Everyone is welcome!

Pgh City Offices & Facilities Closed Xmas Day; RefusePickup Wed 12/26

City of Pittsburgh Offices and Facilities Closed for Christmas Day and Refuse Collection Suspended
City of Pittsburgh offices and facilities will be closed on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, and refuse collection will be suspended. 
 
Citiparks facilities including recreation centers and Healthy Active Living centers will be closed Christmas Day, as well as the Mellon Park tennis bubble and the Oliver Bath House. Other hours for the facilities during Christmas week are available here. 
 
The Schenley Park Skating Rink will be closed on Christmas, and hours for the rest of the week are available here. 
 
Refuse collection for Oakland will be postponed until Wednesday December 26.

Get Help With ACA Enrollment Tue 12/11/18 5pm

 Senator Jay Costa and Representative Dan Frankel are hosting an enrollment event to help community members sign up for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) marketplace health insurance or Medicare. Certified enrollment specialists will be on site to answer questions and provide support. 
 
Please bring documentation to verify your annual income (a W-2 or pay stub) and your driver’s license or other government-issued photo ID.
