Mayor Launches LGBTQIA+ Advisory Council – Applications Due 10/14

The Mayor's LGBTQIA+ Advisory Council will be charged with taking a comprehensive approach to meet the needs of the entire LGBTQIA+ community. The Advisory Council will consist of a diverse makeup of members within the community. Advisory Council members will meet monthly and provide quarterly status updates to the Mayor. Advisory Council Members will strive towards a goal of inclusiveness and progress within the LGBTQIA+ community. 
 
Deadline to Apply is October 14th.

Electronics Recycling Event In Cranberry Sat 9/24 10am-1pm

Cranberry Township Area Computer Recycling and Data Destruction Event – Saturday, September 24th 
 
Securely recycle your old computers this Saturday, September 24th. Commonwealth Computer Recycling (CCR) will be providing on-site hard drive shredding and recycling services this Saturday from 10am – 1pm at the St. Ferdinands Church. 
 
The following computer components will be accepted for FREE at this event:
  • Desktop, laptops, tablets, servers, hard drives (on-site data destruction will be offered for $10 per hard drive)
  • LCD (flat screen) monitors
  • Cell phones, Ipods, MP3 players, etc.
  • Computer peripherals include keyboards, mice, printers (< 50lbs), power supplies, motherboards / circuit Boards, cables, UPS batteries & backup systems, power supplies, memory, hard drives, computer fans, routers, switches, wireless routers, access points, bridges, firewalls, cabling, modems, KVM switches
  • Phones, phone systems
  • AC adapter & wiring
The following items will be accepted for a $10 DISPOSAL FEE:
  • Audio/video equipment
  • Radio, receivers, amplifiers, tuners, equalizers, tape decks
  • VCR, DVD & Blue Ray Players
  • Wooden speakers
  • Consumer/household goods
  • Sweepers, hair dryers, toasters, blenders, coffee makers, microwaves and other consumer electronics
  • Small Freon containing appliances including window air conditioners and dehumidifiers
The following items will NOT BE ACCEPTED:
  • Universal Waste
  •    Alkaline batteries
  •    Light bulbs
  • Large Freon containing appliances
  • TVs / CRT (old style) monitors
St. Ferdinands Church is located a 2535 Rochester Rd in Cranberry Township. CCR is Department of Environmental Protection permitted and an R2 certified Responsible Recycler.

Join Healthy Ride on Sunday, September 25 for a day of FREE riding brought to you by Allegheny Health Network. All riding is free from 12:01am to 11:59pm and there is no limit on trip duration. It's easy to participate; the free rate will automatically apply to all Healthy Ride rentals. Find your nearest Healthy Ride station on their Station Map or the nextbike mobile app. 
 
All riders must have a Healthy Ride account to rent bicycles. New riders can set up an account online at healthyridepgh.com, on the nextbike app, or by calling Customer Service 412-535-5189.

Pgh Rated One Of Most Fun Cities In America

Pittsburgh is the most fun city in the northeast, a study from WalletHub concludes. 
 
“Absolutely, Pittsburgh really did represent well, especially for the northeast,” WalletHub analyst Jill Gonzalez told KDKA money editor Jon Delano on Monday. 
 
Gonzalez says Pittsburgh ranks 14 out of 150 cities when it comes to entertainment, recreation, nightlife, and cost. 
 
Las Vegas, Orlando and Miami rank one, two, and three, but Pittsburgh beat out cities like San Francisco, Honolulu, and, of course, Philadelphia. 
 
Pittsburgh ranks high in many categories — like sports teams and public swimming pools — but one area stands out. 
 
“Pittsburgh ranks number one in terms of the access to bars so that’s both the number of bars per capita and the number of bars per square mile,” notes Gonzalez.

On, August 31st, a public meeting was held to share the design plans and schedule for the Forbes Avenue Betterment Project and the Oakland/CMU Forbes Corridor Improvements Project. Over 250 people attended the meeting held at CMU’s University Center, Rangos Ballroom.
