On Friday, March 18, Mayor Peduto, in light of the Pittsburgh Bicentennial, will be celebrating the city of Pittsburgh’s incorporation in the lobby of the City County Building. The Oakland Business Improvement District, in collaboration with the Oakland Planning & Development Corporation and the Oakland Transportation Management Association, will be holding a table showcasing Oakland’s transformation over the years. If you, or anyone you know, have any old pictures of Oakland and you’re willing to share them for this display. The photos can be anything – from residential Oakland, to the business district; from the universities to the cultural amenities – they’d be happy to take a look!
We wouldn’t mind having pics of our neighborhood for our own photo display on the website!
If you need help scanning  let us know.

The Cops & Kids Summer Camp represents a unique experience for Pittsburgh area youth to understand and explore all aspects of policing and public safety.

For one week, campers will experience positive interactions with police officers. The curriculum is designed to enhance your child’s knowledge of public safety, as well as, reinforcing positive decision-making.

It is our objective to encourage campers to start early being responsible for their actions. This year we are focusing on education, keeping them “Promise Ready” during the summer months.

The goal of Cops & Kids is to help build self esteem, self awareness, and a better understanding what it takes to become a good citizen.

The Camp Sessions will be held:

  • July 18-22 – CCAC/Allegheny Campus (Northside)
  • July 25-29 – Duquesne University
  • August 1-5 – University Of Pittsburgh

See the attached flyer and application for more information.
