Rock Alley is part of the larger project to develop the slope bounded by Route I-376 and the Oakcliffe community, and running between Forbes Avenue and Bates Street.
After years of petitioning, the Oakcliffe community finally had this strip of land designated as a Pittsburgh City Greenway. This designation now allows members of the Oakcliffe community to maintain this land. Due to safety concerns, before this land is open for public use there needs to be a fence installed along the edge of the cliff down to the highway.
This image shows an example of how steeply the land falls away at the edge of the Greenway.
