Hard To Recycle Event At Century III Mall Sat 8/20 9am-1pm

Century III Mall 
August 20th, 9am to 1pm 
 
Since 2003, PRC has held Hard to Recycle collections in Southwestern PA with the goal of providing responsible and convenient recycling for items not able to be recycled at the curb. At these events individuals have been able to recycle such item as e-waste, cell phones, polystyrene, compact fluorescent bulbs, alkaline batteries, Freon-containing appliances, tires and more.  Some items like computer monitors and TVs are taken for a fee.

Dollar Bank Citiparks Cinema In The Park – Summer 2016 – 6/5 To 8/31

Films are shown at dusk on Sundays and Wednesdays, June 5 – August 31, 2016 at Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park. 
 
Wednesday Nights also include the Concert Series at Flagstaff Hill.  Come early to enjoy mid-week musical performances before the movie begins. Bands perform on Flagstaff Hill Wednesdays from approximately 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

You Gotta Regatta 2016 – Fri 8/5 To Sun 8/7

The EQT Three Rivers Regatta is 3 days of activities and entertainment primarily in and around Pittsburgh's three rivers and Point State Park ranging from live bands to boat races.  The event itself is free to the public.  
 
A percentage of the funds raised through event sponsorship is allotted to the Regatta Board which distributes grants to other nonprofit causes that promote clean waterways and recreational river use.

 Twice a year, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police sponsors an opportunity for members of the community to become closely acquainted with the roles and responsibilities of the Police Bureau. The Pittsburgh Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) brings the police and the community close together in a setting that offers a sample of police training to each participant.
  • Participants receive three hours of training one evening a week for 15 weeks.
  • Participants are taught the basics of criminal law, search and seizure, patrol tactics, firearms and many other subjects.
  • Participants learn about the processing of crimes, how police canines are used and are exposed to many of the specialty police units.
The program allows participants to experience some of the highlights of the police training and are exposed to the operations of the police bureau. 
 
All this takes place in a safe and entertaining training environment. 
 
Class size is limited to 30 participants. All interested persons must complete an application and give permission for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police to conduct a background check to determine if they have a criminal record.
