College Football – Penn State At Pitt Sat 9/10

Penn State is scheduled to play football against Pitt in Pittsburgh on Saturday September 10 starting at Noon.  This will obviously mean a lot of extra party activity that entire weekend especially in Oakland.  We hope everyone will be respectful of our neighborhood, but please be on the watch for any excessive or destructive behavior.

The Mayor's Office in partnership with the URA will host a complimentary, government focused, Small Business Resource Fair. The purpose of the event is to offer small business owners in-person access to representatives from all relevant departments within city services (zoning, permits, ADA compliance, etc.). You will have the opportunity to have all of your questions answered ― all in one location. This event would be ideal for small business owners such as restaurateurs, retail owners, contractors, etc.

If you enjoyed OPDC's June storytelling event, check out WordPlay, presented by our friends at Bricolage Production Company at 937 Liberty Avenue.
 
Part "This American Life", part stand-up comedy, WordPlay brings the art of live storytelling back to the stage! With brazen honesty and creativity, actors, comedy writers, and everyday people read their own funny, and often poignant, stories while a DJ spins a real-time soundtrack. 
 
Bricolage's next WordPlay is August 26 & 27.

Hard To Recycle Event At Century III Mall Sat 8/20 9am-1pm

August 20th, 9am to 1pm 
 
Since 2003, PRC has held Hard to Recycle collections in Southwestern PA with the goal of providing responsible and convenient recycling for items not able to be recycled at the curb. At these events individuals have been able to recycle such item as e-waste, cell phones, polystyrene, compact fluorescent bulbs, alkaline batteries, Freon-containing appliances, tires and more.  Some items like computer monitors and TVs are taken for a fee.
